A PATA SSD is a SSD with PATA interface. PATA (IDE) is a mature storage interface which transfers data from hard disks to main boards. Although PATA SSD is slower than SATA SSD (theoretical speed: SATA II 300MB/s; PATA 133MB/s), it can be more stable due to its established installation basis as a mainstream hard disk standard in the past. This product line still enjoys advantages over SATA SSD in lower cost, better compatibility, and simpler setup, etc. Thus PATA SSD and flash modules are still widely used in IPC and vertical applications. Even some PC/NBs still require PATA interface due to the consideration of compatibility with certain chipsets.
